It was when Scott had reached the foot and a half mark that his daughter stopped listening to his directives. This became apparent to him when he had snapped at her for being downstairs after they had grounded her to her room for the weekend.
Being somewhat infuriated by her audacity Scott practically shouted up to her his command which in turn angered his not so small daughter. The look that she shot back at him intimidated him to the point of shock. Next she shouted back the reply of "No!". Scott had never been affronted by such a loud auditory blast in all of his life and almost recoiled in fear.
Next his daughter simply turned her back on him and went into the kitchen to grab herself another cookie which was all that she had wanted in the first place. After which she glared at Scott on her way back to her room.
She had complied after all. .. But it was on her own terms. The significance of which was not lost on him. He was quickly losing all authority now. The next time she probably wouldn't even respond to him he pondered.
